Avoid having your leaves, small twigs and grass clippings end up in the landfill (and instead turned into compost and mulch) by putting them in compostable bags, setting them out along the front curb and calling the City’s Brush and Bulky Item (BABIC) request line (972-744-4111) for a free pickup. Compostable bags (made of thick, brown paper and often sold in folded “flats”) may be purchased at big box hardware stores and other local retailers.

Make sure you indicate that you have compostable material to be picked up. (Large limbs or large piles of limbs set out for BABIC composting do not have to be bagged.)

Mulch and compost generated from the BABIC program is available to Richardson residents for purchase at a discount, through a partnership with Texas Pure.
