Twelve bald cypress trees were planted in the Main Street Redevelopment area (Core District) this week, the first of 105 total trees that will transform the area into a leafy, pedestrian-friendly destination. The trees have been growing in Aledo for more than a year, and were planted in specially designed, lined “trenches” that will contain the tree root systems without damaging the surrounding concrete.

Plans are for red maple trees to be planted next. The Main Street trees will also include live oak, American sycamore and Mexican sycamore.
