Work continues on a vacant east Richardson office building that will serve as the temporary City Hall, with City Council meetings scheduled to take place at the facility beginning Aug. 21. The facility is located at 2360 Campbell Creek Blvd. at the southwest corner of Plano Road and Greenville Avenue.

The one-story, 77,000-square-foot building will serve as the temporary facility for both City Hall and the Richardson Public Library, which is slated to undergo a full renovation beginning later this year using funds approved in the 2021 Bond Program.

Since the August 2022 fire closed City Hall, former City Hall workers have been working out of five separate city-owned facilities, with City Council meetings held at the Police Headquarters. All services previously provided at City Hall, will be relocated to the temporary facility. City staff should begin moving into the facility in September or October.

The temporary City Hall will feature a customer service area where the public can interact with representatives from the Health Department, Building Inspection and Water Customer Service, similar to the setup that is currently in place in the lobby of the Municipal Court Building. People can also pay their water bills in person.

The temporary Library is scheduled to open in the fall following the relocation of the Library collection.

City Hall staff will be at the temporary facility until a new City Hall building is constructed using funds from the 2023 City Hall Bond Program. The Library will be at the temporary facility until the existing facility is renovated. That work is expected to be complete in fall/winter 2025.
