A major milestone has been reached in the construction of the Silver Line Bridge over U.S. 75, in Richardson. 

Early this morning, crews transported the bridge’s future southern arch beneath the highway from its staging area, signaling that installation of the arch is set to begin, weather permitting. 

The highly visible operation is expected to bring significant traffic impacts throughout the weekend. Beginning at 9 p.m., overnight closures will affect U.S. 75, adjacent frontage roads, and Renner Road as crews work to lift and install the massive structure. The installation is expected to be completed early Monday morning, June 8. 

DART Silver Line service between Shiloh Road Station in Plano and the UTD Station will also be suspended each night beginning at 9 p.m. To accommodate passengers, shuttle bus service will operate between Shiloh Road Station, 12th Street Station, CityLine/Bush Station, and UTD Station. Travelers using the Silver Line to connect with DFW Airport should plan for additional travel time. 

The project will also impact recreational facilities in the area. The Spring Creek Trail between Renner Road and Alma Road will be closed during the installation, and Bush Central Barkway will be closed whenever the southbound frontage road is shut down. 

The following road closure and DART service schedule is planned: 

Friday, June 5 (9 p.m.-6 a.m.)  

  • Full closure of northbound and southbound US 75 main lanes  
  • Full closure of eastbound and westbound Bush Turnpike ramps to southbound US 75 ramp  
  • Partial closure of southbound frontage road  
  • Silver Line Rail service closes at 9 p.m. and resumes at 6 a.m.  

Saturday, June 6 (9 p.m.-8 a.m.)  

  • Full closure of northbound US 75 main lanes  
  • Full closure of northbound US 75 to Bush Turnpike ramp  
  • Partial closure of northbound frontage road  
  • Silver Line Rail service closes at 9 p.m. and resumes at 8 a.m.  

Sunday, June 7 (8 p.m.-5 a.m.)  

  • Full closure of northbound and southbound service roads  
  • Closure of southbound US 75 exit (#27) to Renner Road  
  • Temporary rolling closure of Renner Road at US 75  
  • Silver Line Rail service closes at 9 p.m. and resumes at 5 a.m.
