As 2023 marks Richardson’s 150th year (the city was founded June 26, 1873), numerous activities have been planned or are already underway to celebrate the milestone. Ways to get involved include:
- Enter the City’s annual photo contest, which is honoring Richardson’s 150th with a new category, “For the Love of Richardson” (see Events below for more details)
- Take part in the Library’s reading/activity card challenge and community jigsaw puzzle (click here and here for more information)
- Adopt a pet from the Richardson Animal Shelter, which has the goal of 150 adoptions by June
- Attend a special free concert Feb. 19 by the Richardson Community Band, which will recognize Richardson’s 150th with a specially commissioned musical piece
- Attend the June 24 community event where a time capsule buried in Richardson in 1973 will be on display
- Volunteer and Give Back at “Richardson 150th” events (individuals, companies and groups may sign up here)
New social media channels are helping the community stay informed, as well as a dedicated website that includes an events calendar and stories highlighting Richardson’s history. A downloadable version of the 150th logo is also available.
