Santa’s Village, the City’s miniature holiday town, began taking shape this week at Huffhines Park in order to be ready in time for December visitors. The Village had to be relocated due to the August fire at City Hall, which has caused the building to be closed indefinitely.

It will take about two weeks to get the buildings assembled and in place and another few weeks to decorate. With the new location, there will be less buildings in order to ensure accessibility through the park.

Santa’s Village has been held in Richardson for more than 30 years and includes children’s activities inside each tiny structure, live entertainment on a central stage and the opportunity to visit with Santa Claus. All those traditions will continue at the new site.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting the Village four days this year (Dec. 3-4, 10-11) over the course of two weekends. On these days, the Village will be open 3-9 p.m. On days when they are not present, the Village will be open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. for people to stroll through and take photos through December 25. There will be no resident-only nights this year.
