This month marks a new chapter in City of Richardson communications—the launch of RichardsonToday.com, a new website dedicated to ongoing coverage of news and events connected to Richardson city government.
“We’re adding a new dimension to our coverage,” said Director of Communications Greg Sowell. “Our new online presence will allow us to provide more timely stories, which we will also enhance with video reports that will be much like what you may see on television when you watch the news.”
The blog-style website, which went live Feb. 1, was crafted as the result of feedback and data gleaned from a comprehensive city-wide communications survey conducted in 2018.
Results from the survey showed the Richardson Today newsletter was the most valued news resource provided by the City. The City’s Communications Department is hoping to leverage its identity to expand outreach on the new digital platform. Coverage on the new website will also be shared on other channels such as social media to inform as many people as possible about projects, programs and services. The new website is responsive and mobile-friendly, with tabs for News, Videos, Environmental and Arts & Culture, highlighting five stories on the home page.
