To help replace the trees lost due to the severe weather event on May 28, 2024, the City Council has launched Richardson Replants. The program is helping to restore the city’s tree canopy, which offers both shade and beauty throughout the community. This fall, 500 trees will be available with three different species: Desert Willow, Chinkapin Oak and Peach.

The next tree-giveaway will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 1-2 p.m. It will be held inside the City Council Chamber at City Hall, 2360 Campbell Creek Blvd. Join the Richardson Public Library and the Texas Trees Foundation to learn about tree planting and maintenance, from the right tree placement techniques and general care. Free 5-gallon trees will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last, as part of the Richardson Replants initiative.

The lecture is open to all, but the trees are only available to Richardson residents who show either a state issued identification card (Driver’s License) or a recent water utility bill.
