Local nonprofit Richardson Reads One Book (RROB) has announced this year’s RROB selection: “Remarkably Bright Creatures,” the debut novel of author Shelby Van Pelt. A New York Times bestseller, it’s an exploration of friendship, reckoning and hope, tracing a widow’s unlikely connection with a giant Pacific octopus she befriends while working at an aquarium. The selection was revealed this week at a reception at the Richardson Public Library.

As part of RROB, the author is scheduled to appear in Richardson Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Richardson. Free tickets will be available at the Library beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5.

“Remarkably Bright Creatures” is available at the Library in regular print, large print, eAudiobook (MP3), eBook and CD.
