On Saturday, June 1 at 10 a.m. the Richardson Public Library kicks off a series of celebrations for its 60th anniversary.

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy refreshments and music outside the Library in the Fountain Plaza.  The kickoff event is free and includes face painting, contests and a chance to sign up for the Summer Reading Club. Le Theatre de Marionette will present a special show and the Richardson Community Band will perform.

“It’s pretty exciting to know that an institution or an organization, like the Richardson Public Library, has been around that long and its been such a stable in the surrounding community. It’s pretty exciting,” said Vrena Patrick of the Richardson Public Library.

The Richardson Public Library opened its doors in 1959. It moved to its present location in 1970. Visit www.cor.net/Library for information on the Library and to see a list of events celebrating RPL’s 60th anniversary.
