Students participating in the Richardson Mayor’s Summer Internship Program spent the past week organizing the Healthy Kids Snack Drive. It’s an event benefiting families served by the Network of Community Ministries.
The food collected was donated by people in the community and because of that the students were able to make 1,800 bags filled with healthy snack items. The bags were distributed at Richardson ISD’s Backpack Bash along with other back to school donations.
The Backpack Bash is one of the last events for the interns who will be heading back to school in a little over a week. They spent most of the summer learning and gaining work experience at local businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies.
