In order to expand access to vaccines across the U.S., the federal government announced this week the creation of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19 Vaccination, a public-private collaboration between the federal government, states and territories and 21 national pharmacy partners and independent pharmacy networks. The first phase will launch Feb. 11, when those eligible for the vaccine will have the opportunity to be vaccinated at no cost at more than 40,000 pharmacy locations nationwide. In Texas, the pharmacies that are participating include CVS, H-E-B, Walmart, and Good Neighbor Pharmacy and AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation’s pharmacy services administrative organization (PSAO), Elevate Provider. Non-pharmacy vaccination hubs continue at several locations in Dallas, Collin, Denton and Tarrant counties with vaccine registration available online for individuals in groups 1A and 1B. Visit www.cor.net/coronavirus for links for each county. Due to the statewide effort, each county that is distributing the vaccine may approach the process differently and may provide different types of vaccines. Residents DO NOT need to reside in Dallas, Collin, Denton or Tarrant county to register to receive a vaccination at one of the official county hub sites. People who register will be placed on a wait list and will be provided further guidance at a later date as to when to arrive to receive a vaccination.
