The City and Main Street area merchants are getting ready to host a free outdoor party to “welcome back” the community to the downtown Richardson/Main Street area, aka the CORE District, Saturday, Oct. 23 from noon-5 p.m. The “Main Street Celebration” will take place along Main Street between Interurban and McKinney streets and feature live music, street performers, family-friendly activities, food vendors and shopping.
The area has been updated with wider walkways, new landscaping, decorative lighting, new public art and community gathering spaces, thanks to the two-year, $21 million Main Street Infrastructure Project completed earlier this year.
Live music at the outdoor stage begins at 2 p.m. and is headlined by Texas native Abraham Alexander. Festivalgoers are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket for the live music. Parking will be available in a large lot located at Texas Street and Kaufman Street, with overflow parking at the RISD Administration Building on Greenville Avenue. An event bus will be rotating between that site and the event from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
