Drivers will pay more to traverse North Texas tollways and turnpikes starting July 1, the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) has announced. Those with TollTags will pay an average of 1 cent more per mile, with the rate increasing from 19 to 20 cents per mile. Those using ZipCash will pay toll rates at least 50 percent higher than TollTag users.
NTTA is implementing the increase to help repay $9.5 billion borrowed to construct its toll road system and fund nearly $2 billion of improvements over the next five years. Roadways affected by the increase include the Dallas North Tollway, Bush Turnpike, Sam Rayburn Tollway, Addison Airport Toll Tunnel, Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge, Mountain Creek Lake Bridge, Chisholm Trail Parkway and the 360 Tollway.
