RICHARDSON – Over the summer Ardent Lee, 7, used her imagination to create a piece of art that combined her love for reading and learning. The result was a drawing that will soon be used as the new children’s Library card at the Richardson Public Library.
The artwork includes characters from famous children’s books including “Charlotte’s Web” and “Little Red Riding Hood.”
The drawing was one of 49 entries submitted into the Children’s Library Card Contest. It allowed participants to use colored pencils, crayons, markers or paint to come up with a design. Judges looked for entries to include colors and relate to the City of Richardson, reading or the Library.
“I was actually very proud of her and excited she wanted to take on the challenge. It had been a long summer for a lot of us and just to do something like this and think outside the box. Ardent had so much fun,” said Lois Lee, Ardent’s mother.
The new children’s Library card will be available in November.
