Network of Community Ministries CEO Cindy Shafer announced last week that the nonprofit has raised more than $6.4 million for its capital campaign, almost $1 million more over the original goal. The campaign kicked off in March to help the nonprofit remodel its new 50,000-square-foot facility.

Shafer said that in addition to helping Network become debt-free, the generosity of the community will help pay for things that originally were going to be postponed, such as getting a new roof. The donations will also help establish an ongoing maintenance fund.

The announcement was made at Network’s second-ever “Fork Off” fundraising event, at which several chefs from around the community were on hand to treat donors/guests to a variety of dishes, with some made from items found in Network’s food pantry.
