National Night Out is a year-long community building campaign designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for, and participating in, local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships while sending a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
“This community is as safe as any community can be in the country because many residents will come out and participate in National Night Out, “ said Chief Jimmy Spivey, Richardson Police Department.
This week, Richardson Police held a kickoff event as neighborhoods prepare for block parties, cookouts and other community events.
National Night Out in Richardson is Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 6 -8 p.m.
