The Network of Community Ministries continues to recruit volunteers to help Richardson residents impacted by the tornado that caused damage and destruction on Oct. 20.

Over the weekend, the organization received overwhelming response from people who registered to lend a helping hand. So far, Network has helped place around 40 residents in temporary housing and 22 residents in permanent housing.

Food and clothing have been donated by the community and Network is now looking for more volunteers to help sort and process and restock its food pantry and clothing closet.

“The needs are going to be here for volunteer help for weeks and months as people find permanent housing and they need to get furniture, moving from one place to another and helping us process gifts and just work through these things with folks,” said Cindy Shafer, CEO of Network of Community Ministries.

The Network is open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Fridays 9 a.m. – Noon. It’s located at 741 S. Sherman St.  Please call 972-234-8880 to sign up and volunteer.
