Miss Carrollton Averie Bishop was named the new Miss Texas and Miss Southlake’s Outstanding Teen J-Belle Kimbrell became Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen in finals held last weekend at the Eisemann Center. Bishop, a recent graduate of Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law, became the first Asian-American to win the title. Saturday’s event was the 85th Miss Texas pageant; the event has been held in Richardson since 2014.
Kimbrell will compete again soon at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen competition in Dallas in August, and Bishop will represent Texas at the Miss America competition later this year.
