At Monday’s City Council meeting, the City Council approved $348,500 in grant funding for 24 area arts organizations that serve Richardson, on the recommendation of the Cultural Arts Commission. Funding for the annual operations grants comes from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund. This year’s recipients span several arts genres including choral music, orchestral music, theatrical productions, ballets, literature and visual arts. New recipients this year (i.e. new to Cultural Arts Commission funding) are the Accolade Community Theatre, Texins Jazz Band and SciArt Exchange.
The Commission is setting aside an additional $26,500 for future grant funding opportunities for special programming, which will involve a separate application process.
