The public is invited to join the Mayor, City Council and City staff in celebrating the Richardson Public Library’s 60 years of service at a reception Friday, Nov. 22. The reception will be held from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the first floor of the Library. All ages are welcome to attend.

The Library became an official City department Nov. 22, 1959 with the opening of a two-room, 5,800-square-foot building at 310 E. Tyler St. (behind the current Public Safety Campus). Prior to that, it operated out of a dry goods store on Main Street as a branch of the Dallas County Library.
