Richardson Library staff announced at Monday’s City Council meeting that the Library has received the Achievement of Excellence award by the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association, an award based on excellence in 10 areas including services, programming, marketing, and staff training. Only 73 of the 552 Texas public libraries earned the distinction for 2023, the 18th consecutive year that the Richardson Library has won the award.
The announcement came as part of a Library update given that coincided with National Library Week and included highlights from the past fiscal year. In 2021-22, more than 265,000 people visited the Richardson Public Library, and more than 1.1 million items were borrowed.
