Richardson City Manager Don Magner has selected Samuel Chavez, AICP, to serve as the City’s next director of the Development Services Department, effective Aug. 1, 2022. The appointment comes one year after Chavez assumed the role as interim director upon the July 31, 2021 retirement of former director Michael Spicer. Chavez has more than 32 years of progressively responsible experience in the public planning sector starting his career as a planner for Palm Beach County, Florida from 1987-89, and has served with the City of Richardson for more than 12 years.
