RICHARDSON – Staff at Huffhines and Heights Recreation Centers in Richardson are preparing to reopen beginning May 26 with modified services and hours.

The restart of services follows Gov. Greg Abbott’s multi-phased “Open Texas” plan which allows for recreation centers and other health/recreation amenities to operate following guidelines outlines by the Governor’s Strike Force to open Texas.

Parks and Recreation staff have helped move some of the gym equipment from the facilities so visitors can exercise following social distancing guidelines.

“The main thing we want to do is make sure that all of our patrons that come through outdoors feel safe. We also want to make sure that our staff feel safe,” said Rick Files, manager of Huffhines Recreation Center.
