A water leak coming from the interior or exterior of your home can cause structural damage and other issues but knowing where to look can help prevent a big mess.
We stopped by Richardson’s Public Service department to learn about the ways to detect a leak – from the toilet and the faucet to the swimming pool, even a home’s irrigation system – and to handle a suspected water leak.
“If they identify a leak and suspect that it may be, for example in a leaky meter box, they can call the City and we can check and ensure that its not on the City’s side of the service. If its identified that the leak is on the customer’s side of the service, a plumber should be called to help locate the leak and provide the repair,” said Hunter Stephens, assistant director of public services.
