While large items such as computers and flat screen TVs are often popular holiday gifts, setting out their boxes for trash or recycling pick-up can communicate to would-be thieves about what’s inside your home. To help prevent this (and encourage recycling at the same time), the Richardson Police Department and Public Services Department team up each year to offer Holiday Box Recycling.
Temporary drop-off box recycling will be available Dec. 17-Feb. 1 at the following locations:
- Custer Park
700 W. Renner Rd. (near the tennis courts)
- Recycle Center
102 N. Cottonwood Dr.
- 1500 Apollo Rd. (near the Huffhines Tennis Center courts)
- Breckinridge Park
5200 Park Vista Rd. (near the baseball complex)
Note: The temporary locations are for flattened cardboard items ONLY.
If you are setting out items for trash or recycling collection, it is recommended they be placed in trash or recycling bags whenever possible to help conceal packaging.
