Take advantage of sunny winter days and head southeast to explore the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center, located in the middle of the North Texas Municipal Water District’s (NTMWD) 2,000-acre East Fork Wetland Project. The Project provides a unique, natural process that helps purify Richardson’s water supply (and that of other NTMWD member cities) while at the same time creating wildlife habitat and enhancing the environment.

While there, check out interactive exhibits, walk the Center’s boardwalks and observe wildlife on your own or attend one of the Center’s Saturday guided tours. A Walk and Talk Bird Tour will be held Feb. 6 from 7-9 a.m. and a Guided Boardwalk Tour is scheduled for Feb. 20 from 10-11:30 a.m. No reservations are needed and cost is free with admission.

The Center is located at 655 Martin Ln., Seagoville. Hours are Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is $5, $4 for seniors ages 60+ and free for children 12 and under. (Note: bird walks are canceled if there is rain on the day of the walk.)
