The City Council approved Arts Initiative Grants for four area arts organizations Monday totaling $26,500, funded by the hotel/motel tax fund and recommended by the Cultural Arts Commission. The organizations, chosen from a total of nine applicants, received the grants to help partially fund special opportunities/projects not included in their normal budget process or regular programming.  
  
The organizations, funds granted and projects funded are as follows:  

  • Dallas Chinese Community Center  
    $2,500 
    Mother’s Day Ikebana Workshop with Art Exhibition & Award Ceremony    
  • Chamberlain Ballet  
    $7,000  
    “They Sing, They Dance” collaboration of artistical performances by local arts groups at the Eisemann Center   
  • OutLoud  
    $10,000  
    See Me Interactive Performance and Exhibition at the Eisemann Center   
  • Richardson Symphony Orchestra  
    $7,000  
    Community Pops Concert at UT Dallas    

Arts Initiative Grants are awarded in addition to the yearly cultural arts grants recommended by the Commission, which funded 24 organizations for the 2023-24 fiscal year.
