Hafsa Sayeed is an elementary student with a growing list of artistic accomplishments! She wrote last year’s award-winning essay, entry for the 4th to 6th Grade category of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest. The year before, she won in the 3rd to 5th Grade category in Richardson’s Black History Month: Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion Art Contest. She also won the Richardson Public Library’s Bookmark Art Contest in 2021.

Watch the video to hear the words of this local young talent. Hopefully she can serve as inspiration for all the young writers and artists working on entries for this year’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay and Black History Month Art Contests.

– The deadline for the essay contest is next week Wednesday, Jan. 31.

– The contest is open to students in grades 4th to 12th who live in Richardson or attend school within the city.
