Parks staff provided an update at Monday’s City Council work session on seven 2021 Bond-funded Parks and Recreation projects, including two new parks, five playground renovations and the Interurban property.

Recently completed playground renovations include those at Berkner Park and Terrace Park, as well as the relocated Breckinridge Park playground, which opened this week (see below for details). Additional playgrounds with renovations expected to be complete in FY 24 include Woods Park and Woodland Park.

The new park being constructed on the west side of Plano Road at Apollo Road is 90 percent complete, with an anticipated opening date of spring 2024. Construction began Oct. 2 on a new 5.5-acre park across Glenville Drive from Glenville Park, expected to open next fall. The park will include a walking trail, pavilion and wildflower meadow. Currently under design is a 2.5-acre urban park planned near the Belt + Main development off Interurban Street that will include plaza space, seating, landscaping and food truck space.
