Richardson City Manager Don Magner has appointed Jenny Mizutowicz to serve as the City’s first Director of Economic Development. Mizutowicz comes to the City from UT Dallas, where she currently serves as the Manager of Economic Development Initiatives. The City Council approved the creation of the Department of Economic Development in August along with nearly $1.4 million for economic development initiatives, a move designed to better leverage essential economic development partnerships and opportunities.
Previously, the City engaged the Richardson Chamber of Commerce as an independent contractor to provide economic development services through the Richardson Economic Development Partnership. Several emerging trends and organizational developments inspired Richardson leaders to reassess their approach to economic development in early 2022.
The new department will continue to work with the Chamber in workforce development, entrepreneur support, small/local business support and marketing and advertising, and the Chamber will continue managing programs and services such as networking and educational programs, business mentorship and awards/recognitions.
Mizutowicz’s first day with the City will be Nov. 7.
