City staff presented the Summer 2023 Budget Calendar at Monday’s City Council work session. The yearly calendar schedules important steps/dates needed toward the adoption of the next fiscal year budget, which goes into effect Oct. 1.
State law and City Charter requirements guide the calendar’s creation; City staff must provide enough time for public review and comment prior to budget adoption as well as time for in-depth Council briefings on important topics.
Key upcoming Budget Calendar dates include:
- July 24-25—City Council budget workshops
- July 25—Certified tax rolls received
- Aug. 14—City Manager presents budget to City Council
- Aug. 21—Public hearing on tax rate
- Aug. 28—Public hearing on proposed 2023-24 Budget
- Aug. 28—Budget adoption
Department budget briefings will be on the agenda at City Council work sessions over the next two months, including Capital Projects, Transportation and Mobility, Information Technology, and Parks and Recreation.
