The City Council adopted an ordinance Monday creating the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee as one of the City’s Boards and Commissions (previously, the committee was a subcommittee of the Parks and Recreation Commission).  

The new committee will provide recommendations on bicycle and pedestrian plans, policies, programs and projects to achieve the goals of the City’s Active Transportation Plan. It will include five members appointed by the City Council – membership requirements include: 

  • being a qualified voter 
  • resident of Texas for at least one year  
  • resident of Richardson for at least six months prior to the date of appointment 
  • must hold no elected office 
  • must not be in arrears on taxes or other liability due to the City of Richardson 

Applications will be accepted in January 2024, with the committee’s first meeting held in April.
