Pavement work is set to begin soon on Polk Street as part of the Polk Street Improvement Project. Contractors are nearing completion of the underground infrastructure improvements, including sanitary sewer and water main. Beginning the week of Oct. 19, Polk Street will be fully closed to traffic from the alley east of Texas Street to Greenville Avenue for approximately eight weeks so pavement work can take place, weather permitting.

The Collin County Appraisal Review Board (ARB) is accepting applications for new members through Oct. 15. The new members will begin their terms in January 2027.

A public hearing on the proposed 2026-27 budget will take place at the Sept. 21 City Council meeting. Following the hearing, the City Council is expected to vote on adoption of both the budget and the tax rate. The proposed tax rate for the 2026-27 fiscal year is $0.54218 per $100 of assessed valuation, unchanged from the current rate. 

The City Council selected three finalists for the vacant Place 3 position at its meeting on Monday. The three candidates will be interviewed in an open and recorded meeting on Monday, Sept. 21. Following the interviews, a lone finalist will be named. The new council member is expected to be appointed Sept. 28.   

The annual Get on Board reception for boards and commissions will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Richardson City Hall. The free, come-and-go event provides an opportunity to meet City Council members, learn about the application process, and explore ways to serve the community through one of the City’s boards or commissions.
