City to test Outdoor Warning System June 2 at Noon

The City will test its Outdoor Warning System (sirens) June 2 at noon. As a reminder, residents are not expected to hear these sirens from inside a house or building. Their primary purpose is to move people indoors and allow them to seek shelter, shut doors and windows and seek more information.

City Hall Fountain Freezes, Makes interNational News

The fountain that serves as the centerpiece of City Hall’s Fountain Plaza made national news this week when an Associated Press photograph of the frozen fountain was shown on several national newscasts and websites including Fox Business, Yahoo News and the Washington Post, among others. In the widely shared photo, a Parks and Recreation staff member is seen standing in the fountain as he works to break the ice and keep the water circulating.
