Applications are now open to fill the vacant Place 3 seat on the Richardson City Council.
Residents who live in District 3 and meet the qualifications to serve are invited to apply through Friday, Aug. 7.

Current Place 3 Council Member Dan Barrios announced last week that he will resign from the City Council to pursue another elected office. He will continue serving until a replacement is appointed.
The timeline for the appointment is as follows:
- July 22 – August 7 – Application period
- August 11 – Applications are posted in the agenda packet
- August 17 – Council will select applicants to be interviewed in open session
- August 24 – Initial applicants are interviewed in open session; deliberations may take place in Executive Session after interviews
- Sept. 14 – Council will announce a maximum of three finalists for interviews
- Sept. 21 – Council will interview finalists and announce a lone finalist in open session; deliberations may take place in Executive Session after interviews
- Sept. 28 – Council will vote on appointment; oath will be administered
