The Mayor’s Summer Internship Program has opened the application process for the 2021 session. Now in its fourth year, the Program is a collaboration between the City, RISD and the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and enables incoming high school seniors to receive eight weeks of paid summer employment at a local business, nonprofit or government agency. Students gain invaluable real-world experience and exposure to careers in which they’ve expressed an interest, work 10-40 hours per week and earn a minimum of $10 per hour. This year’s program will offer internships that are remote, onsite or a combination of both.

Student applications will be accepted through March 12 and employer (“partner”) sign-up deadline is April 15. Students are required to attend one of two workforce trainings, March 27 or March 31 and participate in a virtual job fair April 29. Those chosen for internships after job fair interviews must be available to work June 3-Aug. 6.

Application forms and further requirements and information for both students and employers may be found online.
