Applications are open to fill the vacant Place 3 seat on the Richardson City Council. District 3 residents who meet the qualifications to serve may apply through Friday, Aug. 7, at 11:59 p.m. 

The appointment timeline is: 

  • July 22-Aug. 7: Application period 
  • Aug. 11: Applicant list released publicly (in the City Council Agenda Packet)
  • Aug. 17: Council selects applicants to be interviewed 
  • Aug. 24: Applicants are interviewed in open session; deliberations may take place in Executive Session after interviews 
  • Sept. 14: Council announces a maximum of three finalists for interviews 
  • Sept. 21: Council interviews finalists and announces a lone finalist in open session; deliberations may take place in Executive Session after interviews 
  • Sept. 28: Council votes on the appointment; oath is administered  

Current Place 3 Council Member Dan Barrios announced last week that he will resign from the City Council to pursue another elected office. He will continue serving until a replacement is appointed.
