She is beauty, she is grace and she has such a sweet face! Ivy here is our cutie who would make you fall in love with her from her sweet personality. This cat loves to receive head pats and scratches. Ivy is a 10-month-old, spayed, torbie domestic shorthair. She is fully vaccinated and waiting for someone to be her person. She has a very inquisitive mind and likes to explore, especially if there is food around. She does not like dogs and will defend herself against them so she would do best in a household with no dogs. She will woo you with her quirky meows. Her friendly and very social behavior makes her a great cat to bring into your home. Come give Ivy a chance at a forever home! If you are interested in Ivy, please call the Shelter at 972-744-4480 to schedule an appointment to see her

Keep Thanksgiving Scraps Away from PetsAnimal Shelter staff would like to remind pet owners that some holiday foods are dangerous to pets. Here’s a list of food items to be sure to avoid dropping on the floor and/or leaving out where pets could access:

  • Chocolate, alcohol, anything sweetened with xylitol (all toxic to pets)
  • Fatty or spicy foods; turkey laden with butter, herbs and spices (can lead to pancreatitis in dogs)
  • Products high in sodium and nitrites, such as ham (can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, excessive thirst and urination, lethargy and abnormal fluid accumulation)
  • Dressing/stuffing or mashed potatoes made with onions, scallions or garlic (can be extremely toxic to both dogs and cats)
  • Bones (can cause severe indigestion, obstruct the bowel or splinter and damage the intestines and stomach)
  • Grapes and raisins (can cause kidney failure)

If you aren’t sure you can control what drops to the floor, put your pet in another room until the feasting and clean-up is over!
