Meet Hero! He is as handsome as they come. This strapping, sturdy boy weighs in at 80 pounds, and while he is the size of a small horse, he seems to think your lap is a perfect fit made just for him. Within minutes of meeting, we can guarantee he will roll on his back and expect his belly to be rubbed. Hero is very proud of his ability to “sit” on command and holds his head high when he pulls it off. He was found as a stray at Berkner Park and was eager to hop right in the finder’s car for his joy ride. He had fly bites on his ears and has tested positive for heartworms, so we imagine he was an outdoor dog in his previous home. Everything about this boy screams that he wants to be inside, at your side and probably on your couch … so that’s exactly what we’re hoping to find for him!
His treatment for heartworms is estimated to be around $425 from our local low-cost vet partnership. If you can’t adopt but want to help Hero is another way, you can donate toward this medical treatment through our online portal – those dollars go directly into our medical fund account. You can find this on our website (www.cor.net/animalservices). If we can raise that for him, we can get his treatment started as soon as next week!
