In conjunction with National Animal Care and Control Appreciation Week, Mayor Paul Voelker proclaimed April 9-15, 2023 as “Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week” in Richardson and presented the proclamation to Animal Services staff at Monday’s City Council meeting. The proclamation acknowledges that Animal Control Officers put themselves in potentially dangerous situations every day in order to protect the health and welfare of animals and the public, and commends the work done by officers of Richardson Animal Control.
Prior to the proclamation, Animal Services Manager Noura Jammal gave an update on the Shelter’s activity in FY 2021-22. Total dispatched calls numbered 7,399; 2,812 animal intakes were recorded and 2,111 animals were adopted.
