The City of Richardson and Eisemann Center are hosting a community event this week called Access+Inclusion 23: A Road Toward Mental Wellness, focused on raising awareness and opening a discussion about mental health and wellness. The event continues the format and community involvement started with the 2021 event, “Inclusion is Magical,” which brought attention to the capabilities and opportunities of individuals on the autism spectrum.

On Wednesday, two open-to-the-public symposiums were held. The first brought together fire and police chiefs from Richardson, Addison, Garland, Plano, Mesquite, Irving and DART to engage in a conversation about mental wellness issues and the impacts on public safety professionals. The second featured experts from the Eisemann Center, Methodist Richardson Medical Center, The Counseling Place, RISD and University of Texas at Dallas and focused on the arts, educators and health care workers and their approach to mental health wellness.

The week wraps up tomorrow with two performances of “The Magic of Kevin Spencer.” The relaxed, sensory-friendly family event is designed for children of all ages and abilities (see listing below in Arts/Culture).
