A hose uncoupling ceremony, a national fire service tradition similar to a ribbon cutting, was held Saturday, Nov. 9 commemorating the grand opening of the newly constructed Fire Station 1/fire headquarters located at 126 N. Greenville Ave. The 31,000-square-foot building is located just northeast of the intersection of Greenville Avenue and Belt Line Road and is the first building to be completed on the City’s new public safety campus, funded by the 2015 Bond Program approved by voters. The new facility provides larger, improved locker rooms, additional space for staff and numerous security and operational enhancements. It also includes a public art piece entitled, “Insignia Lattice,” on the front of the building.
