Demolition of the former Family Medical Building on Plano Road next to the Richardson Animal Shelter is scheduled to begin Aug. 31. A construction fence will be installed around the site, and some parking spaces near the fence may be unavailable during the work. Visitors should use caution and allow extra time when visiting the shelter. The demolition work is expected to take two to three weeks.
Once the site is cleared, part of the property will become a new three-section dog park with multiple areas for public use. The remaining space will be converted into other uses for the neighboring Service Center.
