District 3 residents interested in filling the vacant Place 3 seat on the Richardson City Council may apply online through Friday, Aug. 7, at 11:59 p.m. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements listed on the application page.
Appointment timeline:
- July 22-Aug. 7: Application period
- Aug. 11: Applicant list released publicly (in the City Council Agenda Packet)
- Aug. 17: Council selects applicants to be interviewed
- Aug. 24: Applicants are interviewed in open session; deliberations may take place in Executive Session after interviews
- Sept. 14: Council announces a maximum of three finalists for interviews
- Sept. 21: Council interviews finalists and announces a lone finalist in open session; deliberations may take place in Executive Session after interviews
- Sept. 28: Council votes on the appointment; oath is administered
Current Place 3 Council Member Dan Barrios announced last month that he will resign from the City Council to pursue another elected office. He will continue serving until a replacement is appointed.
