Starting Monday, July 15, Bulky Item Collection will resume weekly curbside collection. Bulky items include large appliances, furniture or items weighing more than 50 pounds. Smaller items, including microwaves and desk chairs, should be placed out with normal solid waste collection.

The City’s regular Brush and Bulky Item Collection (BABIC) provides once a week collection of both brush and bulky items. This service was temporarily suspended due to the cleanup efforts following the May 28 storm. Since the storm, the City has hired a storm debris contractor to collect the estimated 250,000 cubic yards of storm-related vegetative debris with BABIC crews assisting in the cleanup effort. Starting Monday, BABIC crews will resume the collection of Bulky items (not brush) as the storm debris contractors continue their citywide collection of storm-related vegetative debris (or Brush). Residents needing to remove large or heavy items such as refrigerators or a sofa, should request a BABIC pickup starting Monday, July 15. Residents do not need to request the collection of storm-related vegetative debris as debris contractors are collecting citywide. Once the second round of storm-related vegetative debris has been collected, BABIC crews will resume collecting both Brush and Bulky items.

If you request BABIC, crews are asking that bulky items be place in a separate pile from any vegetative debris.
