The City Council voted to adopt a Complete Streets Policy for Richardson at Monday’s City Council meeting. The Policy details the City’s commitment to developing a comprehensive multimodal transportation system and was recommended by the League of American Bicyclists as one of several steps for Richardson to achieve the organization’s Silver-level Bicycle Friendly Community status. The City is in the process of completing its Bicycle Friendly Community renewal application, having received Bronze status in 2015 and 2019.
Also at Monday’s meeting, the City Council held a public hearing regarding planned bicycle parking standards for the City’s Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance, another step toward achieving the Silver Bicycle Friendly designation. The standards have been approved by the City Plan Commission and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and will be voted on at the next City Council meeting.
