Every community has its own culture and sense of place.
Sometimes those experiences can be found by walking an extra block and sometimes they can be found in the most common of places.
This week we caught up with one such experience at the Alamo Drafthouse where a classical pianist has made a transition from performing at churches and teaching to getting moviegoers primed to watch the newly released ‘Rocketman’ movie.
“For me playing the piano is connecting with someone, is having a conversation with somebody,” said Thiago X. Nascimento. “I am given a little bit of trust that I can make somebody’s day a little bit brighter.”
Nascimento, who is from Brazil used to be the accompanist at Arapaho United Methodist Church. He also worked at Richland College, but now works full-time with his music playing various events in the DFW Metroplex, from classical and jazz to musical theater.
