Richardson residents wishing to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus this year at Santa’s Village will need to head to Huffhines Park. Santa’s Village, which has called City Hall home since 1989, will have a new home this year since City Hall remains closed following an Aug. 22 fire.
Setup for Santa’s Village began last month, with Parks crews moving the Santa’s Village dwellings from their storage location to Huffhines Park. The park was a natural choice for hosting Santa’s Village due to available electricity, good parking infrastructure, restroom availability and an existing paved trail for navigating the area. There will be a stage for entertainment and a walk-through option available for the public during non-programmed hours.
Santa’s Village is set to open Saturday, Dec. 3. The Village will be open four days this year with expanded hours each day. Operating hours will be 3-9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 11. There will be no resident-only nights this year. On days when Santa’s Village is closed, it will be open for people to walk through from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. through Christmas Day.
Admission to Santa’s Village and parking are free. Parking for Santa’s Village is available just east of the softball fields and behind Fire Station 4, 1500 Apollo Rd.
A map of the Village and additional information will be published in the December Richardson Today. For more information, visit www.cor.net/santasvillage.
