Visitors to Richardson’s CORE District are seeing red lanterns popping up throughout the District this week, as merchants prepare for the upcoming annual Chinese New Year Festival. The free, outdoor event takes place Saturday, Feb. 5 at DFW Chinatown, 400 N. Greenville Ave., and will include a variety of culinary offerings, vendors, cultural performances and activities for all ages. CORE merchants displaying one of the red lanterns are participating at the festival site and/or providing specialty food or discounts at their business location Feb. 5.
The event, which this year celebrates the Year of the Tiger, is being co-sponsored by the City of Richardson, CORE District merchants, the Dallas Chinese Community Center and DFW Chinatown.
